Oh for fuxsake. You are drugging -- and this is serious drugging, clonidine? risperidone? THREE? -- your child because (1) your physician is a quack and (2) you can't parent?

On some level you MUST be aware that these "diagnoses" are fad diagnoses, that nobody was drugging children like this less than a generation ago...? _Medication_ for "tantrums and noncompliance" at THREE!

Have you heard of parenting classes for mothers of your age?

Yes, they absolutely have pediatric sleep specialists. Clonidine and risperdal are both extremely powerful drugs which can affect many aspects of behavior and mood. There can be significant side effects of these medications and sometimes giving meds, while solving or helping one problem, can cause other problems. This can lead to a cycle of medicating more and more. While some kids really do need significant medications, it is best done with caution as there are extremely limited and in some cases no studies with the pediatric population. Is she getting occupational therapy? This may be another avenue to explore. Therapy can help significantly with integration and sometimes this will lead to both better behavior and better sleep. I would definitely seek a second opinion from another doctor if you are seeing new issues arising from the med use. Good luck.

Clonidine is a blood pressure medication sometimes used for drug cravings and is NOT recommended for children. Is this the correct name??
