first get a routine down, like bath, lotion massage, then story. explain that it is bedtime. i son has a favorite blanket and pillow he has to have, i rock him till he is almost asleep then lay him down to fall asleep on his own the rest of the way. getting them to sleep trough the night is hard and have not yet mastered it yet, but getting bettter with getting him to stay in bed, i hear him sometimes when he startes to get up then go whisper that im here and rub his back, if he gets up then i put him back to bed and rub his back
