I'm 21 and I don't think a 17 yo should have a bedtime. They're old enough to know the consequences of staying up late and should go to bed at a decent hour because they want to not b/c they're being told to.

Hi, I'm a 15 year old student at high school.

I think the average bedtime of a 17 year old should be more or less 11:30 - 12 midnight, allowing later if more homework / family commitments or during weekends... A 17 year old is recommended to have around 8-9 hours of sleep.

But being honest (...and my habits are far from ideal), I often sleep after midnight and get up at quarter past 8 in the morning in a rush for school, and catch up on a bit of sleep in the weekend. True that it makes no sense to give advice and not really follow it myself, but my bad habit is so hard to correct! I guess I'm just a late night person...

At 17, one is practically an adult!

I believe that 17 year old should be allowed to determine his/hers own bed time at that age.

At 18 all the responsibilities of the world become a reality such as choosing a university/career path gaining a drivers license etc so i really think that it should be their choice.

If this 17 year old stays up too late and it is affecting school work or a job then they need to deal with the consequences on their own.

17 is grown up in this day and age!

I'm 19 and begun choosing my own bedtime at 15. It taught me an important lesson in self management.

I think at 17 they are old enough to decide when they should go to bed, Once I turned 14 I stopped being told when to go to bed but then I suppose it depends on the individual person some may just stay up late as possible just because they can but they would soon get bored of feeling tired all the time!

I'm 20 btw

I think a 17 year old should be asleep by 10:30pm.

I am alot older, but I have a 12 years old daughter and 5 other children.

I think that 10:30pm is a responsible time for young 17 year old bodies to sleep.

I believe that teens (and adults) should have at least 8 hours of sleep a day. So, if my teens have to wake up at 6:00 a.m. for school, then their bedtime should be around 10:00 p.m.

PS. My teens are very athletic, so all the more they should have enough sleep.

I'm 20, it depends on what time you wake up! you need 8-9 hours of sleep a night, so if your still at scholl about 9:30-10:30.

I know teenagers hate bedtimes, but they are important.

by that age the teenager should be old enough to decide when they can put themselves to bed, for example you can join the army at 17 and over here you can start drinking at 18 so yeah if your still sending your kids to bed at "bed-time" its called "cotton-wooling" and that is very bad, the kids need to be able to learn how to make good independant decisions without the help of their parents. I'm 17, i go to bed when i feel tired, not before or after. Unless ive got something on the next day then i go to bed earlier...

During the school days it should be 10:00 P.M. You need to get grades because colleges will look at your grades and if they are bad they won't accept you. Trust me dude, I learned the hard way. I'm 19 now.

When you go to college, you can stay up as late as you want. So work hard to do good so you can enjoy college. Which is better? Sucking in high school and not be able to enjoy college life with your friends, or do good in high school, get into a good school, and have fun with your friends?

im 26 and i did not have a bed time at 17...that is practically an adult!! unless still in school (i graduated at 17) then there shouldnt be a bed time for someone that age. if in school then a reasonable time just as someone who had a job...so maybe 10-11ish?

The bed time should be at least 9 hrs prior to the time they have to wake up. That way, they get 8hrs of sleep and 1hr to get ready for school/work/whatever.
