My son is only 8 months old but already he is too big for his baby bathtub (he has fisher price aquarium bathtub) http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/5145Q0SY1XL.jpg
anyways in the middle of this bathtub is a separator so the infant can sit in the tub but it gives the older baby less room for legs when they can sit upright by themselves. Anyway my baby is too big so I was wondering how old should he be when I start bathing him elsewhere? And when I do stop using the tub how do I bathe him ? In shower with me or in normal bath tub or should I purchase a new bath tub?

I had mine in a normal tub when she started crawling wwhich was at about 6 months. I bought a mat that was cushiony and stopped her from slipping.

Bathe him in a normal bathtub.

Nah, not a new bathtub. Buy one of those 1st year bathtub rings to set him in and wash him in the normal tub. I actually shower with my son (now 21 months old). I am a single mom and this works best for us (since the only other tub is in my 17 year old sons room!).

For my 16 month old son, I purchased a blow up tub that would fit inside the big tub after he out grew the infant tub. We still use this tub with him, it's cushy, comfortable and a lot safer then the big tub alone. I know with my son often he doesnt sit in the tub and when he plops down, if he were in the regular tub he'd have many boo-boos.

YOur son is ready to be ina normal tub. If he can sit up, you can get a baby bath tub ring, which keeps the baby in an upright position and he will be fine.

You sound awfully distressed about Nothing.

You can bath that baby in the bathtub. My ma used to bathe my sis in the kitchen sink. When the child can walk you can hose him off in the yard, if you like.

I would be careful about the shower. Baby gets slippery and you might drop him. Also lots of kids hate getting water in the eye and showers pretty much guarantee that.

When my son got to big for there tubs I just put him in the tub with me until he could hold him self up good than he would just stay in the normal tub with just enough water. Avoid the shower with him because they just get to slippery and he could fall and get hurt.

If he can sit you can just have him sit in the tub or buy him the ring bathtub where he sits inside - he won't slid

Buy one of those bath rings that he sits in. It will help him to sit up and keep him in one place.
