Okay, heres the deal: My son is on the computer about half his waking hours, hes gotten quite good at my rated T video games. He used to come ask me to find certain pages (when hes online), but now hes doing it on his own. When he sees something he likes, he opens a new browser window and types it into the search bar and goes. For example, he loves playing "Star Wars Battlefront", so he gets online, types it into the searchbar and searches for it. This was cool enough, seeing him search the keyboard for the right characters to type in (not to mention knowing the correct spelling) but now he does the same thing with crayon and paper, hes actually writing without anyone teaching him! I'm beginning to think he might be gifted. What do you think? Is this above average or am I just an overly proud dad?

That is good that you are so proud of him. I am not sure if you can label him as gifted. There are many other areas to take into account. He may be able to type it from repetition, but can he write cat, sat, pig, and other basic words? I say keep working with him-he is on a great start, and yes, as another poster mentioned, it is not good to be on the computer all the time. If he does other things, you may find some more hidden talents.

Kids these days learn quickly about computers and how to navigate them because they are growing up in a computer world. Most homes has a computer in them.......That is great that he can find what he is looking for! Maybe he can help me LOL. I am not sure how gifted your son is but i think he's pretty darn smart! Good for him! Go ahead and be as proud of a dad as u want to be, there is nothing wrong with that!!! :-)

My son does the same things. Hotwheels.com. He is 5 now, but it helps a lot. It is great that you know what way your son learns the best. Also great that your son can do that. I don't know about above average, but not below.

He's gifted but you shouldn't let him spend that much time on the computer or it could all go to waste.

well, he is doing better than many kids twice his age who are being ruined by the horrible school systems this country has, I dont think what he is doing shows genius, but by all means encourage this behaviour and he should do very well.
