My little boy will be 3 in November and i am gonna start thinking about what theme to do - anyone done anything really cool for their kids parties lately?? I dont wanna do anything themed with kids show characters ie Bob the Builder or Thomas cos its too narrow a theme (and boring for me lol)!

Come on guys - inspire me!!

Last year for my four year old's b'day party, we went to a ranch and did the whole "camp out" pony thing. We had 25 kids from 2 -5 there and everyone got to ride and loved it. You could do the same thing at your house, just rent the pony and do a whole "western" theme.

My friend did a construction theme for her son's 3rd b'day. She did "dump" cake brownies in blond & chocolate and put them in the dump truck for the cake. It was really cute. She had gotten some wood crafts at Home depot and the kids "constructed" different crafts.

Good luck. I LOVE birthdays! Unfortunately, my son's heart is stuck on a CARS theme at Chuck E Cheese this year.

If you browse the the Oriental Trading Company's web site or catalog you will find TONS of ideas!!

For a little boy, you can do a pirate theme with a treasure hunt.

Is there a particular sport he likes? Have an obstacle course with various athletic station.

Is he musically gifted and could incorporate instruments into a theme? Create a music marching band!

Anything transportation related would work too. As a craft kids could create a bus, plane, train, etc. If you go to fisherprice.com there is a section for on-line fun and games. You can click on a section of reproducible worksheets. Let's say you can have the kids color and cut out their pictures and attach string & popsicle sticks, make a mobile. Or you can cut out back to back planes, stuff cotton balls in between the paper, and staple the edges for a 3-D effect. Include a string to fly the plane.

Good luck!

You could do a little fancy dress party for him where all the kids have to dress up as something that starts with the 1st letter of his name.

My friend done this for her daughter, Beth a few years ago. It was great fun there was butterflies, babies, bears, builders and loads of other things. My daughter got wrapped up as a present and went as 'Beth's Birthday Present.

It really is alot of fun and gets everyones imaginations working.

Good Luck and have a really enjoyable day whatever you decide to do.

My friend had a pirate and princess theme for her sons 4th birthday. She even went as far as relating the party games to the theme such as walking the plank (pin the tail on the donkey). The kids loves it and she had prizes for the most creative costume. She even dressed up herself.

Have a good time x

for my son's birthday, we just filled the paddling pool and had a few of his little friends round. we did a selection of sandwiches and easy finger food. we put some of his bath toys in the pool. might be a bit cold for that in november tho.

depending where you are in the country, you could have an evening party, somewhere like blackpool or walsall illuminations.

or if you have a local park or safe woodland play area, why not hide milk bottle tops or other "treasure" for teams to collect and exchange for prizes? you could take a small cd player and do the traditonal games like musical statues but outside.

How about a Circus theme? Have everyone bring extra clothes(big like clown) and for games you can have the kids be painted(faces) like clowns and take funky pics and things.??

Or you could do a Construction theme and have the kids 'Build' things out of jumbo leggos or something.?? Or try a puppet show theme.

IDK maybe these are too 'old' for a 3 year old...but maybe they will jumstart your creative thinking.??

Good Luck

i did a red Indian party, i made feather headdress for the children and painted stripes on their faces, My son was chief he had the full getup, made some wigwams in the corners of the room and just let them carry on, games around a cowboy and Indian theme and wanted posters of relatives children. I did them little lunch boxes for their party food to include healthy foods too, and a platter of goodies that they could just dig into at the end.

Farm!!! A really cool farm theme... kids love animals and to be able to dress up in overalls and such would be fun for them... you could hand out bandannas for party favors or just little gifts at the doors... even for the parents! They have great farm theme plates and such at party store. www.celebrateexpress.com ooo dont forget the straw hats!!!!

Serve pigs in a blanket .... easy finger food for children!

Id wait until closer to the time and then see what his fave film is then and then try to use that. Sounds like your little boy is in for a treat either way. Good luck with the planning x

What about a teddy bears picnic. This would suit boys and girls of all ages who might be there. You could play pin the tail on the teddy and a teddy bear scavanger hunt where the kids have to guess clues to find the treasure which could be a toy or a goody bag.

I would advise you to take it from his interest and then that means it really is his party. It might be boring for you, but you r an adult and it is not about you it is about your son and what he would like. And fairytales are not all based on girlie things as there is peter pan. you could base it on film characters e.g jungle book, pirates of the carribean, etc. I personally would take it from his interest and work from there.

anything boyish. cars or maybe dinosaurs. does he have a favorite movie or show character? like, say elmo or barney or something? you could buy a whole bunch of party decorations with that & have everyone bring a toy or a special gift regarding that character. the only concern is getting the same gift from people. hm, i dunno...

good luck though!

I would have a recycling theme. All the guests can make their own outfits with recycled products and materiel's.

It is learning your son that it is fun recycling and also guests would like it due to not having to buy new outfits for the party.
