Okay - I understand I may be wanting to start a little early considering I have a boy. He will be 2 in November, But I really feel if we gave it our all he would do really well with it. Hes so far transitioned into everything very very well. we just moved him into a big boy bed a couple weeks ago, did just fine, doesnt actually mind it at all. So that gave me hopes of him being a easy potty trainer. I understand boys are alot harder. Any friend I know with a boy didnt have them potty trained untill they were 3. I dont want to wait that long. Im just wonder what worked for you! And ideas and suggestions would be a great help! Iv got the little potty seat that goes over our toilet, sat him on it a few times he giggles, and trys to flush the toilet. I dont think he really knows what hes up there for yet, but every time we take his diapers off he pees on the floor now! whats with that?

My son was just turned 2 when he was potty trained day and night so it is possible to get them trained early on. I did a lot of research on line, planned when I was going to start and prepared both me and my son for the big day. It took all of 3 days for him to grasp it completely. For those 3 days I was exhausted, never ever letting him out of my sight and rushing him to the toilet whenever he tried to go but it was well worth it in the end. This is the first thing that he has actually achieved at a young age, he was sooo laid back that nothing ever bothered him. Good luck

Well hon my son is 10 now but when he was about 2 I did the classic "hot the rings" gmae with him. Toss a few Cherios in the toilet and have him aim for them. As for pooping I just let him set on the edge of the toilet (seat up) and waited with him the first few weeks that he went until he got comfortable. It's not so difficult. Wait till he gets older. It's like they suddenly forget where to pee and ya find pee on the back of the toilet sometimes! LOL. Good luck. :-)

I know this is not an answer for your question, but I would LOVE to know the answer to this question. So I am going to follow it. My son is only 14 mos old, but I would really like to start introducing him to it. I KNOW IT'S TOO EARLY. But I think if I start sitting him on it atleast once a day, he'll get the hang of it. Is this a bad idea?

Your son sounds like he's getting ready. But I agree, he probably has no idea why he's on the potty. I know mine was confused yesterday when I put him on there before his bath! Ha. But I know someone that introduced their daughter to it at 6 MONTHS!

the best way i taught my son was him going to the bathroom with his boy cousins. not too old but like 7 years old. He was watching them so he could get the technique down and no its not too early. the earlier the better. i think when he started walking i started to try little by little to train him. he learned it quick. my best advice is just dont rush him and let it be fun and not a scary thing. i also have a daughter and she was the hardest cause shes so tiny and one time i let her go by herself and she almost fell in. lol. poor thing. so she was traumatized by all that. Just make it fun for him and dont give up.

get a step stool and place stickers at the bottom of the toilet, you'll have to drain the water first or Cheerios in the water and have him shoot at them, make it fun like a game and you have to alwys ask him if he needs to go kids forget, make a set potty time, that seems to work too and when he goes make a big deal about it and reward him
