My friend just found out that it's fancy dress tomorrow at the school and really needs fancy dress ideas for her son. Any ideas?

Harry potter. Use a cloak a wand some fake specs and draw a scar on his forehead in the shape of a lighteneing bolt. Good luck.

A pirate is always popular because you can use stuff you already have. A belt with a bug buckle (mum or dad's) some sort of weapon from the toy box, curtain ring earring, handkerchief bandanna and an eye patch made with a bit of black fabric.
There some good ideas on this site which don't involve huge effort or expense

I love little kids in bow ties, why, I really couldn't tell you lol. She could always just put him in a nice pair of pants and a button down shirt though, if she wants she could throw in a cute little tie. When I was in school we had a fancy dress day, most of the boys just wore nice button downs.

I wouldn't subject my son to gender confusion at such a young age. When he's 18 if he wants to wear a dress, God Bless! I'm not putting him in one.
