OMG! My son is 2 years old (28 months) and now only eats chicken tenders, beef patties, and sausages. I try to give him new things to eat and he just pushes my hand away. How do u get ur child to eat something new? I even try to let him eat things from my plate, but he is not having it. A lot of people keep saying he will eat when he is ready but he needs his nutrition's every day. I'm trying Pedia Sure, but I really don't think he likes it, because it takes him forever to drink it. Again what do u do?

Its so tough I know!! Just be persistent and consistent. Try to offer him three different things every meal; a fruit or veggie a starch and a protein. Remember this is a goal so some days he may have a pb&j and for lunch and dinner and that's just how it goes don't beat yourself up. BUT, don't let him run the show. If you offer him three healthy tasty options then that is what he gets. If he chooses not to eat it then he probably isn't that hungry or he is still trying to work you. Do you continue to try things until he gets something he likes? If so that is a tough habit to break but it can be done. Don't let him push your hand either, mommy is in charge. My doctor gave me some good advice and that was to look at what he eats over a couple of days rather than one day at a time. That is a better way to judge the kind of nutrition he is getting.

Try to make it fun, when you can. And be sneaky too:) Mix some mashed veggies and sneak it into a grilled cheese. There are lots of ways to do this you just hae to get creative. When it comes to getting my daughter to eat it is definitely a challenge I was not expecting. Patience and persistence, you can do it!

I had the same problem with my daughter and I made up a couple of games that will get her to eat her food. Sometimes I will put her plate in front of her and if she won't eat it, I'll start "Stealing" bites of it, as the amount of food on her plate dwindles she'll stop letting me eat it and want to eat it herself, and then if she likes it, I've got plenty left to give her seconds. The other game I play with her is the "don't you do it" game. You should not ever sound angry when you play this or the child will think you are actually mad, but I'll just playfully keep telling her "don't you dare eat those beans, mommy said don't do it" She absolutely LOVES to do the opposite of whatever I say, so she feels like she's winning even though really I am.

I was always told to just put it onthere plate and one day they will try it. It has worked a few times for me but in some cases no. My daughter wont eat anything that looks like baby food, she is 29 months. This is because we have a baby and thinks everything mushy is baby food. I always offer her everything I eat. My dr. also said that if they dont eat veggies to offer more fruit because they both have good things in them.

My son is only 19 mon so he is still a little gullable plus he's not real picky but he can be sometimes. When I want him to try something and he absolutely will not try it I get a little on my finger and put it in his mouth or lips if possible normally if it's good he'll be like whoa what was that and be a little more willing to try.

there's a study that stated, kids need to be introduced to the same food 21 times before they actually eat it... my daughter who doesn't eat shrimp and crabs now enjoys it! and would even want my share of it! lol her weight is good too. there are food she likes in an instant and there are a lot of food we tried feeding her that she refused at first but she is now eating. I'm guessing we introduced those food to her around the same number of times before she actually took a liking onto them ;D

I was a picky eater when I was 3 or 4 but then I just developed that palate for good food and I eat anything that walks and crawls lol without hesitation. of course all fruits and veggies too. I'm guessing too that it's something we outgrow.

Just dont serve him the high fat foods! The best thing to do is give your child the plate, if they dont eat then but it in the microwave, when your child wants a snack pull out the plate!

If I want him to eat something, I have his Poppa eat it. He loves Poppa, and tries to do everything he does. It doesn't always work, and sometimes it takes a long time. He has to see us eat it a lot before he'll be open to trying it, but that's the only way it'll work.

all you can do is keep putting it infront of him. experts say that it takes up to 20 times of seeing a food on his plate before he will accept it and eat it.

make new foods and give it a fun name... like celery with peanut butter and raisins ants on a log, or spaghetti and meatballs call it worms and eyeballs... Just name the foods after stuff you know he likes! Hopes this helps! :)

If he's hungry he will eat anything

if he refuses to eat, then he refuses to eat, give him an hour or so and he'll be hungry enough that he will eat what you give him
