When do people or children start to whistle?

My 6 month old seems to be whistling!!! She purses her lips, blows and out comes a faint, but clear sound! Is she whistling or am I crazy? LOL! My dad, her Gramps and I have been whistling a lot around her....Is she mimicing us? Has anyone else had a young child do this around them?

Well that maybe true. I read a study that said when parents that do different things that change the form of their mouth (whistling,speaking in French or any other language)the babies learn to sense the different shapes of mouth and tell apart language from language. It said they may also mimic you. So I guess it could be true.

Wow, I'm amazed and jealous. I'm 25 and still can't whistle. This is really funny because I tried for 20 minutes yesterday to finally learn to whistle. Still can't though.

My son was whistling at four months. But I've whistled at him since birth, I think it depends on how often they see someone do it.

First off that's really cool!! My niece didn't learn to whistle till she was 4 and we cant seem to teach my three year old yet but you know what your little one may have discovered how! ~~ Best of luck!

u can start whistling at any age, but when u've lost teeth it gets more diffcult. but it depends on when the child learns.

Yes, she's copying y'all. My daughter is almost 11 and can't whistle.

No, she's not whistling. she has found out that she has lips! (i know i sound crazy, but babies don't know who, what, or where they r! just just know they have mommy!) believe me, i have 8 other siblings! and I'm the 3rd. oldest and all of my younger ones have done the same!
